President Joe Biden told CNN in an interview that aired late Tuesday that he didn’t expect a recession for the U.S. economy, after he was asked if Americans should prepare for one. “I don’t think there will be a recession. If it is, it will be a very slight recession,” Biden said. “Look, it’s possible. I don’t anticipate it.” Senior Federal Reserve officials have been clinging to the hope they can stamp out high inflation without triggering an economic meltdown, but Wall Street SPX, +0.18% forecasters are increasingly gloomy.
