President Joe Biden on Thursday said he will go to Florida “when the conditions allow it” to thank first responders who have helped victims of Hurricane Ian. Speaking at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters in Washington, Biden said the storm could be “the deadliest hurricane in Florida’s history,” and noted early reports of “what may be substantial loss of life.” Biden also said it was his intention to visit Puerto Rico, and again urged energy companies not to raise gasoline RB00, -2.14% prices or gouge Americans in the wake of the storm. After his speech, Biden told a reporter that “we may” need more money from Congress for storm relief.
