Boeing Co. is dragging down the Dow Jones Industrial Average Monday morning, with its shares tumbling after a Boeing 737 jet operated by a Chinese airline reportedly crashed. Shares of Boeing BA, -3.59%, the Dow’s biggest loser in Monday morning trading, are down around 5%, according to FactSet data. Chinese state media broadcaster CCTV said the accident, involving a China Eastern Airlines Boeing, occurred near the city of Wuzhou in Teng county, according to an Associated Press report Monday.The Wall Street Journal reported that the aircraft was a 737-800 and not a Boeing 737 MAX, citing the Aviation Safety Network database. The Dow DJIA, -0.58% was down around 0.5% Monday morning, while the U.S. Global Jets ETF JETS, -2.47% was off 2.7%, FactSet data show, at last check. Boeing made up around 2% of U.S. Global Jets ETF’s net assets as recently as March 18, according to the holdings listed on U.S. Global Investors Inc.’s website.
