Dish Network profit and revenue fall short of consensus estimates


Dish Network Corp. DISH, -19.14% said Friday it had net income of $433 million, or 68 cents a share, in the first quarter, down from $630 million, or 99 cents a share, in the year-earlier period. Revenue fell to $4.33 billion from $4.50 billion a year ago. The FactSet consensus was for EPS of 74 cents and revenue of $4.38 billion. Net pay-TV subscribers fell by about 462,000 in the quarter, which ended with 10.24 million pay-TV subscribers. Retail wireless net subscribers fell by about 343,000 in the quarter, and it closed with 8.20 million retail wireless subscribers. The company said further details were available in its 10-Q for the quarter, which was not yet available on the SEC’s EDGAR site. Shares were not yet active premarket, but are down 15% in the year to date, while the S&P 500 SPX, -0.57% has fallen 13%.
