Leading the transports lower, shares of trucker Old Dominion Freight Inc. ODFL, -5.52% sank 5.1%, marine shipping company Matson Inc. MATX, -5.10% shed 4.9%, air carrier American Airlines Group Inc. AAL, -0.72% dropped 1.9% and railroad operator Norfolk Southern Corp. NSC, -1.96% was down 1.9%. For the two gainers, shares of car rental company Avis Budget Group Inc. CAR, +3.51% advanced 2.8% and diesel engine maker Kirby Corp. KEX, +0.76% tacked on 0.6%. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.06% gained 23 points, or 0.1%, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.52% rose 0.7% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.58% climbed 1.8%.
