President Joe Biden on Tuesday urged Floridians to “evacuate when ordered” as the state was bracing for Hurricane Ian. Speaking at the White House ahead of a health-care event, Biden said he spoke to the mayors of Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tampa and told them, “whatever they need, contact me directly.” A new report estimated that more than a million homes along the Florida Gulf Coast are at risk of being damaged by the storm.
