Facebook parent Meta Platforms Inc. META, -4.15% has reached an agreement to settle a lawsuit brought up by users concerning the company’s practices in sharing data with Cambridge Analytica, a Friday court filing shows. The two parties in the case filed a joint notice saying that they “reached a settlement in principle” and were asking for a 60-day stay of action as they worked to deliver a written settlement to the court. The filing did not reveal the terms of the settlement. Bloomberg News reported Friday that the settlement comes before Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg was expected to have to submit to hours of questioning by attorneys representing the plaintiffs. Meta didn’t respond to MarketWatch’s request for comment on the settlement. Facebook faced backlash in 2018 for how Cambridge Analytica was able to access user data without their express permission.
