The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said about 155,000 GE-brand French-door refrigerators with bottom freezers are being recalled, as the freezer handle can detach, posing a fall hazard. GE Appliances, a company of Louisville-based Haier, said the recall involves six models of the “fingerprint-resistant stainless steel” refrigerators sold from February 2020 through January 2022 for between $1,900 and $2,500 at Home Depot Inc. HD, -1.90%, Lowe’s Companies LOW, -2.06% and Best Buy Co. Inc. BBY, -1.46% and other home improvement and home appliance stores, and online at Lowes.com and BestBuy.com. GE Appliances said it has received 71 reports of the freezer drawer handle detaching, resulting in 37 injuries, including three serious fall injuries.
