Newsletter: Compliance with the obligation of continuing professional education and long-term medical leave

Since 1 January 2020, insurance and reinsurance intermediaries, their senior managers responsible for day-to-day management, their heads of distribution as well as insurance companies’ heads of distribution and public-facing staff (PCPs) must attend 15 hours of continuing professional education annually.

The FSMA recently received various questions from the sector regarding the application of these rules to staff who are on long-term medical leave. The FSMA considers the continuing professional education obligation to be suspended if a person is 100% unfit for work over a period of at least 120 calendar days within one continuing education period.
