41147 white house says its encouraging florida to pre order covid vaccines for youngest kids

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Thursday said the Biden administration is encouraging officials in Florida to pre-order COVID-19 vaccines for the youngest children, after a reporter asked about Florida being the only U.S. state not to pre-order. “We encouraged Florida on several occasions to order vaccines, so we’ve been aware of this, and we will continue to do so,” she said, adding that if officials in Florida are not pre-ordering, it will make it harder for parents in Florida to get shots for their kids. Federal health officials look poised to give final approval to both the Moderna MRNA, -5.80% and Pfizer PFE, -2.12% vaccines for children below the age of 5. Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, is viewed as likely to make a 2024 run to replace President Joe Biden.
