The House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, siege on the U.S. Capitol by supporters of then-President Donald Trump and the events surrounding the insurrection will reconvene for a planned set of hearings in September, NBC reported Thursday, just ahead of the final installment in a June-July set of eight televised, public hearings. The prime-time hearing Thursday had till recently been viewed as the final public event for the committee, after which a report was expected to be issued alongside a determination of whether to make formal criminal referrals to the Department of Justice.
